I had a chicken go broody today.. with no eggs.. so I gae her 5 duck eggs. We will see how she does with them. she is a banty, but a big banty and she seemed to cover them fine. I found out after I gave her the first three that she did have one egg in there. Then I was worried about the time difference between the hatches. Figured I would wait ill I could tell if the duck eggs are even fertile and then decide. My old faithful hen then went broody later today.. she also had no eggs.. So I took the one lone egg from the first, which left her 5 duck eggs and gave old faithful 1 chick egg. Then decided to try something. Got 4 more chick eggs out of the frig and gave them to her too. I marked them with a blue X so I would know for sure if they hatch. Want to keep seperate from the fresh egg. I am sooooooooooo confused. Got it all wrote down with times and dates and amounts of hatches. If my gray toulouse goes broody, I will just give her all the duck eggs and goose eggs I have and say DONE!!!!!!
