Peck sounds like a seasoned broody. Have fun with that. And........look there's toes in the pic.

My 1st time broody gave it up. Oh well, I bet she'll try again.

thanks.. I was worried with the lack of response to my question but found the answer elsewhere.. but thanks for the answer anyway..

I had a chicken go broody today.. with no eggs.. so I gae her 5 duck eggs. We will see how she does with them. she is a banty, but a big banty and she seemed to cover them fine. I found out after I gave her the first three that she did have one egg in there. Then I was worried about the time difference between the hatches. Figured I would wait ill I could tell if the duck eggs are even fertile and then decide. My old faithful hen then went broody later today.. she also had no eggs.. So I took the one lone egg from the first, which left her 5 duck eggs and gave old faithful 1 chick egg. Then decided to try something. Got 4 more chick eggs out of the frig and gave them to her too. I marked them with a blue X so I would know for sure if they hatch. Want to keep seperate from the fresh egg. I am sooooooooooo confused. Got it all wrote down with times and dates and amounts of hatches. If my gray toulouse goes broody, I will just give her all the duck eggs and goose eggs I have and say DONE!!!!!!

Wholly mackeral, there are alot of post on here now. I've been busy working alot and loving the weather that I havent been on here for a while. I' m on day 11. Don't know how many chicks I have developing seeings how I like the eliminate of surprise and wont candle till day 18. I really want the porcelain duccle to hatch. I hope everyones hatches are going well though. Michele

I am on day 29 with the Turkey eggs. IF I get no hatches by Sunday I am going to consider it a bust.

My one and only chick from 14 eggs hatched this morning at 12:39. As far as I know this is now the only Serama in Reno. Very strong but an Orphan. Went to the feed store and got it some friends. A Silver sebright Bantam and a Japanese White Bantam. They are all in the brooder but those Bantam chicks tower over the tiny Serama. this is a picture of the Serama next to the Sebright.

She is very good at being a mama and hatching. Problem is I have 2 other hens who will be broody too ASAP and they will all steal eggs from one another. No one is happy until one of them has them ALL!!!! (No sharing in the hen house!)
