I don't know, but am interested in the answer. I got home from work this morning to find mine had dropped to about the same temp! I know when the kids went to bed, the temp was fine so????

Also, I took both plugs out, maybe I should put them back in?? Ambient humidity is around 87%, a little lower in the house, so I didn't think it would make that much difference. They have been in about 60 hours, and the water wells are still full. Any advice?

I'm no help regarding the plugs, sorry! I was curious about the 87% humidity at that early stage of 60 hrs, seems high. The higher humidities are usually used at the end with lockdown. I use the "dry incubation" method, not really dry just dryer & my humidity is around 40-45% for Day 1 - 17. Please excuse me, if I have misunderstood. Or, if you have any questions, be sure to ask everyone. Happy hatching!

I mean the humidity outside is that high. I doubt it is that high in the house

I put a little bit of water in the wells and it is still there 3 days later.

I have thirty six turkey eggs in the cooker that I set last night and plan to add a dozen White Leghorn eggs next Tuesday for a theoretical hatch date of April 20th.

We'll see.

.....Alan.

Bec: Good for you! You must have a great candling light, good.

peacelover: Yes, it's real humid there. Thanks for clearing that up, I was scared. Have a fun time & enjoy the incubation process.

A.T. Hagan: oooo, turkeys & Leghorns! Theoretical is right, as eggs seem to have their own agendas, with no regard for our schedules. The little rascals!

Love your avatar picture, you are very brave to stand next to such a large roo.

Hey Save-the-Favs, the 'traveling hatch' is NOW, not next month! It went/is going pretty well, considering shipped eggs [Spec Suss] and apparent fertility problems,w/test batch. Unfortunately, my camera seems to be in my DD's car in PA, while I am here in MD

Meanwhile, back at the farm: I am having a ball watching the bator and brooder and caring for Dozens of beautiful rare and Heritage breeds. Get this: I get to gather and take home to hatch ALL FERTILE EGGS laid this week!

Most of these will come back here as my cousin is renewing/replacing stock, but I get to keep some of them. She ordered a dozen French black Marans for him as well, so they will all go in on Monday 29 March, Which gives me another April hatch date! April 18 if I am counting right on my fingers. YUP! I am definitely out of control here

I have a small maglite! It is pretty bright and it's pink too! Edited to add that I got it at Walmart for around 7 or 8$. I have used it for the past year for all my candling. I have always been able to see development from about day 2or 3 with how bright it is! Day I can see something going on and by day 3, I can see the beginning of veining.
