mine is in a dark room.. to dark I think. I leave the light on over it quite a bit. I would think sunlight would not be good because of the heat, but just light.. I think it would be a good thing.. but I am no expert.

Thanks.

1) What about water? Last night I filled the trough up with water, and this morning when the temperature dropped the trough was half full. So do you think the temp dropped because of the lack of water or because the temp in my room changed?

2) I have a heater that I set to a certain temperature and then it will go off once it hits that temperature. Should I put it on in my room to keep the incubator from spazzing temps?

the best way I have found to keep humidity up is to put a poise pad... or diaper if you have room, filled with water. It will stay for a long time. I do it during lockdown.

I have a pip on one of my black ameraucana bantam eggs! Hopefully I get a few to hatch I will post pics when they are out and fluffy.

My incubators are sensitive to the room temps & seem to change at different times in the day when it cools down in the mornings & then when it heats up middle of the day. Instead of changing the temps on the bator, it's much safer to try & keep the room temp more stable. I'm going to start setting up the bators in my office room which is more even in temps to combat this problem. The hardest part is keeping the incubator stable & not having to adjust, it can go off the charts too easy by adjusting the knob.

I like your idea in your last post about adding a thermostaticaly controled heater to the room, that's what I'd do. Also, when my water troughs go low & humidity goes up, my temps seem to consistantly rise. The chicks are developing at different stages & it has occured to me that they absorb moisture at different stages. Best wishes with your group of different eggs.
