does nobody know if goose eggs are 28 or 33 days? Guess it is time to go elswhere....

Well I did take pics but need to finish up outside I have 33 chicks with another zipped resting to get out soon I hope so that leaves 4 eggs that I thought were good and 3 that I didn't think would hatch I don't know where the water goes but the well was dry when I took the chicks out humidity was 50 so I filled it up again and put a damp paper towel under the one that was zipping very strong chick rolling around so I think that it will be able to finish without more help. I think another was rocking so I might get a couple more I'll keep adding water. I started with 51 eggs total locked down with 41 all shipped eggs so I'm very pleased

I just got finished candling 47 eggs on their 7th day and had so, so results 41 looked good to go and I had 3 cracked and 3 infertiles. I will post on day 14 with a progression report.

I got super impatient and couldn't resist candling a day early! So far so, good--much better than what I was expecting for eggs shipped all the way across the country!

There were maybe five or six that failed to develop or had blood rings, but the rest are looking like all is well.

PeepsInc did a good job packaging them for the trip!

Also, this morning my broody abandoned her eggs.

I had put some of the eggs from PeepsInc under her, and one duck egg. I took the eggs that were developing according to my candling and stuck them in the incubator in place of a few eggs that looked VERY certainly non-developing. Hopefully despite getting a bit cold they'll still develop, even if it's slower. Worth a try, anyway!

If I get even five or six chicks out of this hatch, I'll be sooo happy. My previous hatches were less than a roaring success (serama eggs in small amounts, badly-timed power outages, infertility of call duck eggs, etc.), so even a few chicks would be absolutely thrilling for me. Of course, I'd love more than that, though!

Decided to candle a couple today - Turns out one of my big Bev Davis egg has a bloodring

and two of the pullet Marans eggs are actually goners - Looks like they developed, but stopped somewhere sometime ago.

The rest are just fine though! Even my one EE x Polish.

Looking forward to all the chickies. . . And, only 9 days let!!

Still only one Dorking, one Australorp. The Dorkings have 2 that are almost, almost out. They've been unzipped for hours, but the actual shedding off of the egg and emergence has been eternal, simply eternal. One finally has a wing and bill out. It seems determined! I upped humidity (no, did not open, did it via the vent opening and a tube I rigged), from 65-75%. I'm afraid to go to bed because the humidity has been slowly dropping. I closed the vent slightly, and there's a small dish of water....the window is slightly fogged. I hope that's good! In the Aussie and Brahma incubator, I did the same. They are a day younger, but one Aussie came to see us anyways! No one nearly as close as the Dorkings, but I'm not worried....
