11 eggs to go.

Temp 100, Humidity 70%.
I have to go to work so will check again when I get home. DH made up a song for the chickies......to sing while I am gone.....
"broke 16 eggs what do I get another day older and deeper in debt," cracked 16 eggs ate the corn and Nana don't care!....."
all because I said I would worry about them while we are done to work. i threatened to stay home if he continued....lol

I drew them on top to remind myself and family members what eggs are good and what should be culled. Although today I'm going to cull again - Day 15 and I've had a blood ringed one for a while now.

I am new to incubation so can you tell me what you mean by "cull"?

Ok, I don't know what I am doing wrong....everyone here is having success and I am Thrilled for you all. My first hatch with my new incubator I only got 6 babies, cute as can be and growing wonderfully. I read some things that I did wrong and this time corrected them and put 38 eggs in the incubator and only got 4....again cute as can be but this is frustrating.....I AM NOT GIVING UP by no means and will start another hatch probably in another week or so. I did lock down at 18 days,filled the second tray with water, and did not turn the eggs after lockdown or even open the incubator, and still nothing....one chick cracked his shell open, but couldn't make it out....finally on the 24th day, I helped him out but he died....so I just have the 4....please help me.....I will say one thing..I forgot to get a hydromoter to measure the moisture so I am going to get one this week for sure....

BUCK up -- DON'T Give up!

SO-o-o-o-o many reasons -- shoulda-coulda-woulda. Get a hydrometer [I like the PetSmart ones for lizards

] In my experience, you only have a 50% +/- survuval rate if they aren't strong enough to hatch by themselves. Enjoy your peeps

and progress WILL be made!

I have babies..... yeah. Four have hatched under the broody and three in the bator. I have a picture from the first one under the broody. so cute. And the one in the bator that hatched first. Haven't wanted to bother them again. I worry about the thing about not moving them, because they are positioned for hatching and they have that long neck.. the babies have been playing soccer with the eggs.. the pip is up, and then it is down.... do I do anything????I know they were all #1 up when they started..
this is mama goose wanting very badly to KILL me.

this is my first hatchling. About 8:30 am Sunday April 11. There are now four of these hatched and one unhatched.

This is my first in the bator to hatch. This morning, but not sure what time it hatched. 3 are now hatched in there. It has a piece of egg stuck to its head.lol

and no.... I didn't help it hatch.. it had a few drops of blood and it's hind end looked really worrisome for awhile, but... maybe that is just the way geese look at first. this is my first goose hatch..

To cull an egg is to remove it from the incubator. Any quitters or bloodrings are removed, and depending if I like the egg or not, the shell is preserved.

Incase you also didn't know - Blood rings are when the egg has been contaminated with bacteria, and develops a ring of blood. The chick either never makes it or dies. Quitters are simply eggs that never developed.
