Since I started my new job, I don't have alot of time for anything, maybe I will when I get the schedule worked out. I have 3 coops and 3 batches of new chicks to take care of before and after work, that doesn't count taking care of the other various animals or people in my life.

Lots of deadlines and not much time, I have not even taken pictures of the last arrivals here yet.

I love all the pictures I see......

Congratulations to all those with pips, peeps and hatches....
My next arrivals are Due 4/29....................

OK. So I have a question this first pip finally hatched about 4:30 this evening there are two more of the three egg's I started with in the incubator and no sign of any pip's yet today was day 21. Is this normal? or do they usualy all hatch at pretty much the same time? He is still in the incubator and pretty dry I've been really good and not opened it and my humidity has stayed stable at 70%, I'm just getting worried I keep going to the bator expecting to see more pip's and so far nothing. Still no pips the other chick hatched yesterday at 4:30pm and is now starting to cheep. Should I take him out or wait longer it is day 22 for my egg's and he's the only baby so far out of 3 bantam modern game egg's.

if you open the incubator no matter how quickly some humidity will be lost, causing the remaining eggs a bigger chance of becoming shrink wrapped.

But it is your choice.....

Out of 21, we are up to 11 hatchlings! We are so excited that we are at that level! We locked down on Thursday the 8th and our first one hatched on Saturday night after about 11 hours of piping and zipping. The second one came on Sunday morning, two on Sunday afternoon, two Sunday night, two overnight, one this morning and three this afternoon. The last one that just popped out has an issue that I posted about in another thread. Anywho . . .

I had to open my bator to remove the five oldest as they were making a heck of a mess, rattling up the other eggs and the bator was DRY as a bone. After putting everything in a hot shower room, adding warm to the touch water and moving the five oldest out, I had three hatchlings so I don't think I did anything wrong.

Step away from the bator..........(I couldn't resist!) I say wait a little longer and see what happens, he hatched yesterday and worked very hard (it was so cute!). I think as long as he isn't getting stuck like the quail then at least leave him in there until tonight, maybe he will encourage the others!

I can check on them while you're gone if you need me to : )

Often it seems that people (me included) will send a general "congrats" and "love the photos" to all who have posted. I know I love seeing and reading everything as a newbie especially, but don't always reply to each one.
My update...three pips this morning...today is day 21. Still pretty quiet although I hear the odd quiet peeping. Temp and humidity are bang on so just have to hope for the best and be patient. I have the incubator in my office so will certainly be working late for the next couple nights.
Hopefully I'll have photos to send at the next update.

they are back a few pages.. I am sorry everyone... I had a little pity party with only myself invited. Better now. I know that I don't take the time to comment on every picture even tho I do look at them.. SOOOOO... Sorry again. My pity me time is over.lololol add to that, I am having a crappy day at work... it all just adds up sometimes and you have to vent. As an update tho.... I ran home on my lunch hour and all are hatched. I moved four to the brooder early this morning and the last two hatched sometime this morning. they were both still pretty wet. One looks really good, the other not so well. Cant seem to lift its head. Will see about it when I get off work. All in the barn are hatched... mom still hating me but they are sooooo cute and fluffy. I wish the ones at the house would fluff out like the mothered ones. So o recap, out of 11 eggs that went to lockdown, I have 11 babies. will keep updated on the one sicky one.

Yikes ....my temp and humidity have been so bang on and now (day 21) the temp keeps spiking up to 102-104. I am right in my office so can turn it down when it goes up...has only been doing this for 30 minutes. Could this be because the chicks are getting ready to hatch and the "body heat" is increasing? I have 3 pips
Any tips from the wise and more experienced?
Do I need to worry if this goes up for short times?\\
It is now at 100 again...but the bator keeps clicking on and I keep turning it down. I am tempted to unplug it...arghhhh.
It was less stressful being present for the birth of my granddaughter than it is getting this little darlings into the world.
