April Hatch Challenge....

I have 22 Delaware eggs finishing now, so far I have one chick, but I think I may have had some temp problems, maybe a bunch will hatch late.

I read on another thread that if you have clear spaces at the narrow ends on day 18, they're running a little behind in development. Most of mine had clear space at the small ends, and a nice air cell, and I know from past experience that a dead egg begins to lose heat in just a few seconds when you take it out of the 'bator. When I candles on day 18, there were a couple that felt that way, but they didn't stink, so I left them in. The rest felt like they were generating some heat of their own.

So, that gives to cause to be optimistic. I'll wait and see. The one that's already hatched is very active and strong! I hope he/she has company soon.

Today was day 14 for the Rock eggs, the turkeys are still at three different stages.

Of my original set, four are clear at 14 days, two quit inside the first week, one double yolk clear, one developing... well... oddly. It's very hard to candle.

Two poults due this weekend, two apparently later in the week and one slightly behind those. The cracked egg failed and one turkey egg candled clear.

I built a hatcher because the turkey eggs were so staggered. It's at temp with the two BR eggs now. Both alive when they went in.

today is day 17 for my RIR eggs. i sat 20 and 2 werent fertile and 1 quit developing so i think im doin pretty good. theyll be here wednesday

We moved 10 to the hatcher, this was our first one out.

I moved 12 call duck eggs to the hatcher. They are due the 14th.

I also have some chicken eggs due the 17th.

first one out of 63 just hatched. Its a White Japanese. There are 4 more peeping as i write this.

Hi sorry I haven't posted the results of my hatch but my computer went down. I am using my son-in-laws for awhile. My first incubator hatched with the following results.
incubated 41 eggs
day 14 candled 5 were clear the rest looked viable
day 18 removed turner and recandled 3 were still clear
day 21 7 hatched
day 22 11 hatched
day 23 2 hatched
the rest stopped developing
I had a total of 20 hatch
I hatched 7 balck australopes
5 polish
2 cochins
6 ameracaunas
The second incubator was at a friends house
she hatched 7 out of 18
I still have 25 eggs due next week Will let you know what hatches out.
