Final update on the disaster hatch!
The "rules" : turkeys take 25-28 days. They should lose 12% wt. They should be clean. They should be turned. They should be incubated at consistent temps.
Just shy of day 32, poorly turned, muddy, dirty, eggs that were left cold repeatedly and lost more than 18% wt pipped but required help to hatch. Even the backwards poult managed to pip despite the shrink wrap.
I let them sit 12 hours after pip to see if they could move, they couldn't. I assisted them both free. They're here, they're rapidly becoming stronger and they'll be marked for long term evaluation but there ya go.
While perfection is simpler. I'm betting a pair of poults who could pull off just surviving their beginnings will probably do alright. The others are thriving and screaming for momma so I'll BBL.
