Well now it's 14 pips lol! But no zips or hatches, and he could be home any minute. But that is fine! Maybe he will get to see one hatch before he goes to church, sure wish I didn't have to go anywhere today! I can't wait, and I hope you have lots more by the time you get home!

Congrats! I'm still waiting on pips. Trying really hard to find anything else to do in the meantime. Have a couple eggs rocking like crazy, so hopefully they'll be breaking out soon.

Weighed a few of my day 5 coolerbator batch, and all is looking good there. Candled a couple of them just out of curiosity, and saw some nice, strong veining already. I'll be adding 6 mottled Ameraucana eggs to that group tomorrow.

USPS doesn't have a clue! I had put a stop on my mail 4 days before eggs were due to arrive and they still delivered everyday! When I called to see if they had come in on the 5th they said no, I called again just to be obnoxious and they said yes they were out with the carrier already! They tell me come over in 1 hour. So I go to pick them up and they say sorry they are still in Houston. I almost walk out the door, but I am nearly certain the tracking said "departed 4 am" sooooo I ask the other worker he goes back and comes out with my eggs! The other girls says, and I quote "How did you do that?' He said "I went and checked". I think I will be looking for a more local source for hatching eggs from now on. The box was smashed too... Any who GOOD LUCK! Shipped or not with that many eggs your bound to get some chicks!
What a nightmare!!!!!!!

On day 19 now and holding steady at 65% humidity after going into lockdn yesterday. Really looking forward to a few pips or rocks possibly tommorow after work :) Have some very healthy BCM eggs as well as some SLW and SLW/ BR cross. My last batch was a total disaster... all dead. I have a good feeling about this one though.

A quick question for everybody.... Does anybody here ever leave a light source on near their bators around hatch time? Just wondering if it helps a chick to see its way out or if they are fine without any light at all? I have my bator in the basement because the temperature and humidity are constant down there and aside from that, I also keep a blanket over the bator to further keep the temperature stable. Just wondering if any light would help or at least be better than near pitch black for the chicks?

Sounds like everything is perfect. I'm rooting for you and those eggs. It's sad when they don't make it, so here's to a great hatch!

Will be setting about 30 eggs into the incubator tomorrow! Crossbreds of EE and Dominique, and Crosses of EE and RIR. This will be my first time using an automatic turner and the first time hatching my own homeraised eggs! I am excited!

Here are the new babies! We had 5 Hatch 4/5, 2 hatched 4/6 and 2 more this morning.(I had one with a severe belly deformity that we put down. But I am happy!

I still have a few eggs in the incubator, but I don't think there was anything happening in them. And we should be setting our next hatch either this weekend or next monday.
