April Hatch Thread--Come Join Us!

Hooray for all of the new little chickies! My 11 mutts are about a week old and doing great, even the runty one that was assisted. It is looking much better and catching up quickly in size and fluff. I don't think I will be hatching in May as I REALLY need to get the coop in order and make some additions to the usable space...... I have got to get a real grow-out pen for the extra Roos instead of the mediocre digs they now have.

Awesome. Good luck to those expecting and well done on those hatches!! I am on day 21. I have 13 hatched and 4 zipping a few more pips and a couple I can't really tell. But wow it's awesome. First ever hatch and its been very hard so far!! Hang in there guys n gals if you've never done this before its so so amazing!! I think I have had up till now an awesome experience. And even my husband Steve has been very supportive and involved. Which has been great for me! The kids have been overwhelmed with excitement. Even if I never bothered again this has been an amazing experience totally worth it all round. Even with the heart aches and shakes and knocks bumps travels in the post. You name it! Temps up and down. Scary hairy stuff. But when you see those little guys it just melts away!!

Well if those eggs are sitting at that temp and hatching then I have nothing to worry about !!!! Thought mine were too hot!!!!! The temp in my bator is sitting between 99.5 and 102 depending on the time of day? Mid day till about 3 pm it tends to go up in temp - but it seems to be warmer weather outside at that time of day????? The bator is inside though? We are trying to keep it at a constant temp but it isn't behaving. - Then I kick myself and remember that Hens can;t tell temps and so naturally under a hen they are all over the place with temp arn't they?
The wax egg felt havier tonight when I turned it? Tomorrow is day 17!!!!! We are getting close now! I am looking foward to Lockdown. I am sooooooooo hoping all turns out well and that something hatches this time round

I have to say I am more anxious to see pictures of your mystery critters than I am about my next hatch! I have had the darndest time uploading photos I will try again!

Looks like I'm getting a 100% hatch from my broody! Out of 7 eggs, we have three chicks and four pips!!!
Question- if I leave everyone in the heated crate, can I give the 8 chicks from the incubator hatch to the broody? She'll have fifteen babies, and she's a tiny Japanese, but I'd like the babies to have a mommy.

I am currently a week away from Mandarin ducks hatching and Anconas should hatch around 4 May. I just checked Mandarin eggs and looks like only 6 are progressing . All 3 Ancona's are progressing great. Hope everyone else has a good hatch! Will try to post pictures as soon as possible.
