April's Fools eggs from my chickens (no joke!)

Quite funny that this happened on April Fool's, but today I got the largest egg AND the smallest egg I've ever had in 3 years of keeping layers. If my neighbor was around, I'd swear he stuck this little egg in my coop as a joke, but he's in Puerto Rico right now on vacation and not coming back until next weekend.

Has anyone EVER seen an egg like this?? It's about the same size as an acorn, and same color too! Which is weird because none of my chickens has ever laid an egg this brown. The other one to the right is just HUGE, and the photo doesn't do it justice. I'm betting it's a double yolker. I have no idea what to make of the acorn egg. I'm definitely not eating it!

I swear, this is NOT an April Fools joke by me on the Forum. Seriously. I just can't believe this little egg!

So, We have gotten 2 small eggs and 2 large eggs since having our hens of 1 year. Its crazy. The large ones have always been a double and I always wonder... what if it was fertile and I let it grow... would the world let 2 healthy chicks hatch.. probably not... Anyway, the small eggs have only had egg whites.. no yolk. I have never eaten it but I don't see why it would be harmful to eat... I'm just not into trying "new" foods out. It's cool and such a surprise to see amongst our eggs. This picture doesn't show the true sizes but it was the best I could do with the lighting and a toddler running around at the time. With the second pic.. the smaller egg stood up better than the egg next to it but you can still see the size difference. It's sooo cool.. I wonder why it happens?? Hmmm...

Your little egg is what's called a fart egg by a lot of folks. It's just a glitch in the system, she forgot to put the yolk in. The shell is so dark because the same amount of pigment went onto such a smaller area. She should work the kinks out in the next few days. No yolks and double yolks are most common in new layers, and high production birds.

I got one of those little eggs a while back from my Marans. And I get at least one double yolk a month from her, I have had 3 of those in the past two weeks.
