Arachnophobia

Not scared of spiders, but I would be if I lived in the right place.
We don't get many types of spiders, and I'm pretty sure we don't have a single harmful type.
We get plenty of daddy long legs. I let them stay, because they apparently scare off the others.
I couldn't kill a spider, I have to carefully catch them and find them a nice new habitat 😂 but if I do see a spider catching a moth or a butterfly (even a fly) I will knock it down and try to save the bug.

My big bug problem is SLUGS.
Horrible things. They're everywhere. They crawl over the chicken feed if I don't carefully cover everything up. Snails I see as a bit disgusting but not as offensive.
If I lived in an area with leeches, I'd be sick. I don't understand being afraid of moths, they're just fluffy cute things to me. I know a few people that are though.
Slugs are attracted to yeasty things. Makes sense they would go for your feed if its fermented. You could always set out a bowl of beer. They go for that and drown in it.
I met a girl once who was terrified of cats. I dont mean big cats...domestic cats. I never knew her well enough to figure out why. I assumed shed been attacked at a young age by a cat or something. But then again my MIL has an irrational fear that my chickens will attack her. She wont come in our backyard with out a stick to shoo them away. She has never been around chickens in her life so I have no clue why she is scared.

i'm ok with spiders(even the tarantulas we have here) as long as they don't jump out at me. i can live and let live as long as they aren't in the house. what i can't stand are the scorpions. even if they are outside i will smash them into a smear and they still aren't dead enough to suit me, because i know they were just looking for a way into the house.

I could never live in a place that had scorpions😱 I think I'd be too afraid to go outside. I'd definitely be afraid to smash them because of those stingers.

i have been stung by them and it hurts like a big dog. flyswatters, shoes, bricks what ever is handy to destroy them.

Little spiders I'm okay with but they still die, those garden spiders... I spray every time!! They can happily live in someone else's yard. I'm with everyone else on the ticks (one bonus with chickens) and mice (another bonus with chickens). I despise snakes also... I caught a glimpse of the largest garter snake I have seen so far under my porch, I refused to go out that door for a couple days (I've seen chickens eat garter snake before and I was hoping the flock would take out this one too).

I guess snakes dont bother me because they are so identifiable. A garter snake is completely harmless and easy to spot. Whereas a spider...you could be minding your own business and the BAM creepy crawly nasty jerk spider in you face. I really hate orb weaver spiders (garden spiders). They're huge and ugly nasty things. I think they have it out for me. If I knock a web down they just build one closer to me.

I used to live in an apartment on the second floor. One day I came down the stairs and an orb weaver had made a GIANT web over night but he was long gone. Knocked it down with the broom and went on my merry way. Next day same thing only now it was halfway up the stairs. That night I opened my door to see that horrible thing had made a web RIGHT OUTSIDE MY DOOR. But this time it was there. I killed it with wasp spray and bashed it to death with the broom for good measure. My SO said it was trying to keep its web by building it up higher but I swear it was hunting me. Jerk spider!

Dont they make a creepy sound when they walk too? Or is that just a movie thing? I've never been unfortunate enough to see one alive and in person. I think if I did I'd tell my SO that we need to move away. Either that or I'd have to get accustomed to wear boots all the time and he'd have to get used to my sweaty boot feet stink :lau

I'm sorry, I love golden orb weavers and think they and their webs are both beautiful. I avoid walking into their webs, so they don't have to rebuild them and of corse nobody likes getting a face full of silk! But on an early fall morning when the sun strikes the dew on them ... gorgeous! Sorry, sorry, don't beat me! :lau

How can you see that as gorgeous? Whatever you are high on I need some of that. I see a web and I cringe regardless of whether or not a spider is present...because that is a spider home. Spiders are blood sucking venomous creatures that deserve nothing but the poison I feed them. I dont feel this way about anything else. I love frogs and toads. They eat the same things spiders do...AND THEY EAT SPIDERS. Lets just have more frogs and toads and forget the spiders

Oh my.

So when I lived in England, there was this ONE type of spider I couldn't stand.
They had big bodies, and they were everywhere. On the ivy, mainly.

I hadn't got a clue what they were called, but that's them. Orb weavers! Flipping creepy things.
We used to get a few types of snake in England too, and slow worms. Slow worms were really sweet, no harm in them whatsoever.

We don't have any snakes in Ireland either.
