Feed store sold them to me as Araucanas - they are growing tails - sooooooooo, I think not. Just curious, though - I know they are girls but would love to know breed - I
I love the little darlings but would like to know what to call them. Any thoughts?

I have one that looks exactly like them. The store said Ameraucana. Not sure if that's accurate or not, just what they said.

I am a little worried with the feed store too. They are selling Araucanas, but right on the label say "Also know as Easter Eggs. This breed is known for tufts on the cheeks and will lay a variety of different eggs colors including blue, green, pink, or brown." That to me screams an Easter Egger which is what I want, but I'm afraid they will be true Araucanas which are kind of aggressive and broody.

any feed store will sale only ee's for the most part as they get their chicks from hatcheries which in turn sometimes tell you on their site that they are easter eggers. you can only get those breeds true through a dedicated breeder.

I've seen EE's sold as Araucanas or Ameraucanas at feed stores, and sometimes they're even labeled as Araucana/Ameraucana. It's kind of surprising to me how many people don't understand that you are dealing with three different breeds of chicken there. They might have similarities, sure, but it's like saying Rhode Island Red's and Red Sex-link's are the same thing......which I've also seen. There needs to be a public chicken ed class!

Like hdowden said, you're far more likely to find true Ameraucanas or Araucanas from a breeder.
