Araucana- Are these the start of ear tufts or muffs?

She lays blueish more than green, I should say. Here , the standard of Perfection at least in "araucanas" (what an irony) doesn't count very much. Any hen who lays blue or green they call them araucanas. There is some who "try"to follow the laws of the APA, others that follow the English standard (like ameraucanas with crests) others none. That's why I prefer to call them "mapuche" in general and Ketro those with tufts ,and Colloncas those without tail. I have all kind of mixtures. But this season I going to try to have "collonca de aretes" which is the true araucana. And some EEs also that I've learn to love trough this pages....Henriqueta is one of my favorites, she is very sweet, and she sings A weird "ëgg song"...

Kano,

I so wish we in the States used the South American breed terms for them. I think Collonca de Aretes, Mapuche, etc is much better than araucana, etc. I'd love to hear that egg song, any chance you can record her and put it on youtube?

I would have to ask for advice, I think I should recorde it whith my cell phone, I suposse. The other day was the first day I saw her in the nestbox. I go to the country , were they live, (sadly I don't live with them) only 2 or 3 times a week and most of my hens lay in the mornings so I didn't know what color she lays. To give you an idea her song is a continous Kra-kra-kra-kra-kra-kra....Here other of Queta (for short)...The yellow one in the back is also ketro but has small tufts.

I have some hens that make that sound or something like that but not at the nest box. I am not sure why they call that way, or what they are calling for. I have heard this from several of my breeds and not specifically from my araucanas.

Hello there! I think that pic looks like a beard/muff combo. The tufts are very distinct. You can even see the tufts on chicks when they just hatch. Very pretty chicken....
