Araucana thread anyone?

Wondered where you've been!
Ugh, I HATE long drives. Well, anything over 30 miles!

LOL I don't mind driving, per se. But it was the drive down to Baltimore Friday night, the driving around the two cities over the course of the weekend, and then the drive back. The wedding was beautiful, went to the National Aquarium... It was a good time!

How would I assist hacthing if needed

sorry, I have been busy these days.

you can find a lot of information in byc forums how to assist hatching. I helped by braking shell without braking membrane. there are still veins and yolk inside. when I see that membrane is getting dry (happens in my climate even with broodies) I wet it with lukewarm water and q tip.

Good morning all!

Tomorrow night I will candle the 4 eggs under Lil Girl; it will be day 7 or 8. This time I added adequate bedding to keep her eggs up under her, and I did not give her as many as I did Bonita to make sure she could cover them all.

Bonita is doing well with her one remaining chick (2 died; no fault of Bonita's).

Bluebell is now mingling with Cholo and the layer flock. This is the third day they've been out together and I have yet to see Cholo breed her. No one even notices her - I think the run is just too big!

Integration is not going well between Mama and Ratchet. They spend the entire day fighting through the fence to the point where they are both bloody. They go at it like a couple of cockbirds. I did the proper see no touch method, but I'm going to have to go back and put another couple feet of fence between them. I really need Ratchet in with Manolito to even out tufts in his offspring, but the way those two crazies are going at it I'm afraid I may need to put her in somewhere else.

Sorry you lost 2 chicks Trish. :hugs
Where do you have Lil Girl set up for brooding?
I’ve found that Araucanas even when you do the look but no touch integration that they will still go at it. Looloo my feisty pullet calmed down after she started laying, but I don’t have experience integrating adult Araucanas.

Thanks. I've actually lost 3 (one inside) and expect to lose my mottled chick any day now. So after all that time, effort, and expense, I'll have 5 chicks out of 34 eggs. :(
Lil Girl is right next to Bonita's partioned off portion of Mano & Mama's coop. Once I know she'll have a good chance of hatching I'm going to move the portion down so she will be in with Bonita and her chick. I'm going to see if Bonita will bring her chick outside today. I had to make a ramp for them because they'll be coming out the man door and it's a 2 1/2' drop.
Also plan to get Blue Boy's run done today so he can finally come outside.

I'm so sorry about all the heart ache, @Trish1974 and I cross my fingers for the remaining one Bonita has! :hugs:fl

In other news... I just did a thing. Hehehe!:yesss::celebrate

I just ordered them from Ann Charles, should be shipping out on Tuesday. The top is a GDW cockerel, single tufted, and the lower one is a clean faced salmon pullet.
I can't wait!!!

They’re lovely! I didn’t get an email that Ann was selling any birds.
