I am really surprised that the breeders mix colors as often as they do. You would think "breeding towards the standard" would apply to STANDARD colors as well. This one: View attachment 1871118
I thought they have been doing this to create new varieties, all the while hoping to make these other varieties standard?I am really surprised that the breeders mix colors as often as they do. You would think "breeding towards the standard" would apply to STANDARD colors as well. The thought of throwing in a white with any color makes me cringe. All I can think is "OMG, you'll NEVER get that white out!!!" But maybe I'm the only one anal retentive about that.

I don't think so. I've seen where both Anns have said the APA is so hard to convince to change things it seems an impossible task. They can't even get them to include clean faced birds in the standard.I thought they have been doing this to create new varieties, all the while hoping to make these other varieties standard?
I think if they included clean faced birds no one would breed tufted birds.I don't think so. I've seen where both Anns have said the APA is so hard to convince to change things it seems an impossible task. They can't even get them to include clean faced birds in the standard.
I think that they’re working with dominant white and not recessive white so it may be easier to breed out.I am really surprised that the breeders mix colors as often as they do. I am so sorry you lost a chick. It always seems to be the favorite. We lost our double tufted chick this week.Very sad as she was my personal favorite personality-wise, but she wasn't growing, and was half the size of the other two.
Here's our two that are left. NN/Aracauna and Norwegian Jaerhon/Aracauna. These are 3 weeks old, and it's already easy to see we have at least one roo.
