Sis laid her first egg today! Right at 6 months of age. Sis's egg is on the right, Mama's (her mother btw) is on the left, just how I found them in the nest box. Mama's egg weighed 2.05 oz., Sis's 1.90 oz. Not bad for a first egg!

We are supposed to get snow today.

We are supposed to get snow today.

We got some last night, but it turned over to rain and most of the snow went away. I was so glad it turned to full rain, so there was just slush on the road. We're supposed to turn back into snow this afternoon and get snow all night though. Gonna be a fun commute in the morning.

I'm on that 2-4, 4-8 line. And that's our local station. The national ones, like accuweather and weather channel have us getting more.

Well, something really weird but neat came to my attention this morning. My one and only bantam Lil Girl started molting a few weeks ago. As a chick she showed ZERO signs of mottling; she was coal black. She came out of the coop this morning and I see all these white dots on her. I'm thinking, "what the heck is on her?". Nothing - her feathers are growing back mottled!!! I will get a picture when she is done molting. This gives me hope for the ones that were mottled as chicks and lost their mottling with age.

That’s awesome news! I’ve always heard that mottled chickens get more mottling with age. I’ve also heard the same thing said about Speckled Sussex.
Looking forward to seeing pictures of Lil Girl when she was black and now when she is mottled.
