Araucana thread anyone?

I decided to take a video instead of still pics since my camera sucks so bad. Plus it is a rainy day and no one wants to come out of the coop. This is Tim, Splash, and Lulu. There's cameo appearances from Molly the mottled pullet and Mama's big butt towards the end.

I decided to leave Tim with the flock. After observing everyone for a couple days I discovered Manolito only chases him when Tim takes off running for no reason. His fear of Mano is unjustified (or maybe just mad respect for his elder). If I see an actual fight, blood, or a disheveled feather I'll separate him. But in reality Tim is just a scaredy cat drama king.

Hi guys,

Here's my Cockerel Dark Wing. He's definitely fertile. I have 9 eggs in the incubator from him and my CCL. They'll be interesting chicks. I only have 1 Araucana pullet left.

I plan to order some hatching eggs from Ann Charles in the spring. Ann Horsman says my Cockerel is pretty good looking to use as a breeder.

Hope everyone had good holidays.

It was a mistake that I ended up with one male and female. They were supposed to both be females. Anyway now I have one tufted male white with black mixed in and one untufted female who is a golden duck wing. Just curious if anyone could guess what would be the dominant color if i hatched chicks or will it be a surprise. I really wish I had two the same color but oh well.. I just love these birds. Now I wish my whole flock was nothing but Araucanas!

Welcome to our discussion! I love my araucanas as well!!!

Anyway... Your cockerel looks like he's a paint, rather than white. Evidence the occasional black feathers in there. I have a white pullet and a paint cockerel. As for what colors... hm.. That's a tough one. I'm not that understanding of the genetics yet.

I find myself in the same boat though. I have three cockerels and I need to decide which of the three to keep, based upon the two araucana females I have.

Some updated pics of our Aracauna/Naked Neck cross. She looks grumpy, but has a fantastic personality!

I'm in southern Indiana and looking for true quality araucanas. Do you have any available or know of anyone?
Thanks
