Araucana thread anyone?

Illia, I want Josephine.

Or a Araucana like her... or eggs from her!

She is very striking.

I like how meaty your barred girls appear to be, they look like they would feel like a bag of bricks if you tried to lift them.

Just the way I like 'em!

The male makes excellent, meaty Olive Egger offspring too.

Josephine is a duckwing with something else in there, have no clue what. I've only gotten accidental Shamo crosses out of her, and I sold them just a couple weeks after hatching, so,

I'll hopefully find out in a couple weeks, if not that, then a couple months.

I like it so far. I met another Araucana person who lives just one town over!

Smoothmule- I entered smoothmule for the referral on skyblue eggs. Seemed to work.

Our Bolton fair is this weekend, but I'm afraid to leave my roo anywhere. I think he'd also be really upset if he's not with his girls. What to you all do?

Josephine appears to be a mossy birchen or a brown red, not a duckwing. I get a few of those out of my birchen pen. I love the color. I want more.

I am a member of the Araucana Club. It is definately worth the price.

My egg color ranges all over the chart. I don't have any of the (A) colored eggs but I have alot of B's, C's, and a few D's

I am glad this thread is moving along again.

I mentioned earlier, a while ago, about her possibly being a birchen but I've never heard of the crowwing gene actually being in Araucanas, however crossing Duckwing x Black can very easily make a mockery of birchen. Crossing the birchen look alikes together makes more birchen types, more duckwings, and other mixes. I think that's what she is, but I'd love to hear someone has a true breeding birchen program.

Lanae, do yours breed true?

Yes mine breed true per se. I am getting birchens out of my birchen pen. This is my first year so only time will tell, but the roos are looking very similar to their dad. I have two beautiful birchen roos from Gary Ramey eggs also that I will be pairing with my tufted birchen daughters.

I am going by the OEG standard of perfection for the brown red color, which my roo is very similar too. Birchens from what I have red or seen tend to be the silver version of the brown red.

I will post pics in a month or so as they develop more.

Hi Everyone. I was thinking this thread has been awfully quiet for a long while now, when I got an e-mail about a new post just now and went online only to see that the thread has been rocking and rolling and I simply haven't gotten an e-mail from BackYardChicken about it in solid month. I'm awfully happy to see all the post and the great info that's been passing through. I've got a lot of catch up to do!! Great looking birds out there everyone!
I'm entering my little dbl tufted rumpless black girl into the fair. Every year there are lots of "Araucanas" entered and lots of "Araucanas" win prizes, but I have yet to see anything other than Easter Eggers and the occasional Ameraucana. Wonder if the judges will disqualify my Araucana for missing tail feathers

. I plan on bringing my Standard of Perfection with me just in case.

Way to go puppy dog!!!!! Nothing in the world like a guardian dog - life around here just wouldn't be right without our two Anatolian Shepherd/Great Pyraneese guardian dogs.

Hurry to all the hard working dogs out there.
