Araucana thread anyone?

Blue, Black, and Splash are all perfectly good to breed or raise together since blue doesn't breed true, and splash and black are just one allele different from it.

Rob's large fowl white pullet was Res Ch. large fowl at the WA State Fair Junior Show today. His bantam black was Ch. AOCCL. (And Rob himself is the current state champion in Intermediate Fitting and Showing- with a bantam araucana, I might add!) It was pretty funny- he blew the judge away with his description of lethal genes- I could see her eyes glazing over...

WONDERFUL! Tell that son of yours that we are all so proud of him and the breed is better off for his dedication - no question. I would have loved to see his birds in person.

FYI,

I will be offering bantam, clean faced, pea combed split chocolate 1/2 orp, 1/2 ameraucana cockerels soon. They should be carrying the blue egg gene and would be great to start an araucana project at a lower price than a pure chocolate orp.

It will be a few more months before I have large fowl available.
