Araucana thread anyone?

That blue girl didn't turn out as regal when she grew up, which is a shame, because as you point out, the chick picture she held herself wonderfully! I don't have her anymore, though. Sold a few excess roos paired with a female so she was one of them.

Thanks for that Ann. I have hatched out a lot of yellow and near white with no stripes, I must have some wheaten in the flock then. I've wondered if my rooster, Rudy wasn't wheaten or has wheaten plus something. Some of my blue/splash chicks hatched out that color too,

What do you think of these?

Like the first top left chick shown in the last post

Whitish to yellow with eventual black patterened feathers budding out, then turning to the normal Wheaten color.

shanshan51 I'm alot harder on cockerels then i am on hens. if its a clean faced, tailed cockerel and i have the option of a comparable rumpless clean-faced one the the tailed bird is gone. And likewise if i have a comparable tufted rumpless cockerel then the clean-faced rumpless goes.

Hens i tend to follow the same line of thing although i would consider keeping a clean-faced tailed hen if she had other good qualities and i had space. Tufts are paramount for me too, I would keep birds with tails in a heart beat if they had tufts... but that might just be my tuft envy coming out lol.
Just my 2 cents

Thank you for the input! It looks like one male for sure and maybe a female. The male is already pretty aggressive to the other chicks and solid white with tail. I think he may have teeny tiny tufts!

congrats on the tiny tufts! that lays the ground work for bigger and better ones. I had 2 hatches of araucanas last summer. each hatch had an aggressive chick, in the first hatch it turned out to be male, the second hatch its a spunky girl lol.

I keep the breeders pretty much just breeders, i'll add them to the pens when their most of the way if not fully grown.

I had posted a while back about my lone blue Araucana chick-

Here is an update on this fella. I am very sure that its a he, for his comb and waddles are pinking up. Not sure if I should be happy about that or what?

He is clean-faced, but rumpless.
