Araucana thread anyone?

Do I need to buy special egg racks to get it to hold that much or is my addition that off? Each tray holds 60 eggs with the egg holders I have right now. I have 3 trays which is 180. Thanks for the info on quieting the noise I will work on that this week. Seems simple enough.

Are you just trying to tease us?!?! Photos please. Pretty please.......

I am not teasing. :) I am only able to take pictures from my phone. I will go out and take a picture after I treat the calf.

Here is my new set up. I don't think I will need to use the humidity set up for the incubator because it has been holding humidity perfectly at 30% with no water. I added about 1 cup of water to the hatcher and it is stable at 60% . The temperature in the hatcher is holding steady at 99.8 and the incubator at 99.3. Mr. Dickey say I can get it to 99.5 perfectly and it will hold that but right now I want to get thru the first hatch which is due this weekend and then I will mess with them a little more. I have just over two flats full right now, thats about 65 eggs if I counted correctly. The incubator holds 180 eggs with the egg flats that are in there. I know I can get the styrofoam egg crates cut to fit and then it will probably hold 200 eggs. I already have visions of needing another one but don't want my husbands heart to stop. I can always use my LG's if this one gets full, that will give me space for just over 300 eggs.

Here is the chicks that hatched last weekend. I am totally excited by the little wheaten one. These all came out of my duckwing pen. Interesting color combo for one pen.

The egg trays are available right now on eBay as a buy it now. $21.95 for 6 which is what you need. Also pretty much all the electronics in your units is in stock items from W.W. Grainger.

How did you know my favorite color is pink? LOL! I just bought two orders. Thank you,

Ok, got back from outside.

Here are the pictures. I just got them some water, so they were all drinking.

Can you all tell me that he has decent lacing or not. Thanks. :)

He was hatched around the first week of December.

This is a little blurry, but you can see that its a roo for sure.

My other 2 Araucana chicks. They were hatched right after New Years Day. I think that one is a roo and the other is a pullet. If that is the case, I have 2 roos and 1 pullet total of 2 batches of shipped eggs. All are non-tufted.

Roo?

Pullet?

If they make it to adulthood, and are good breeders, will any of their offspring will not have the lethal gene since they do not have any tufts, right? Or their offspring can have tufts? So many questions...

Thanks

None of their offspring will have tufts. The parents have to have tufts to be able to pass the gene on. There is less than a 1 percent chance of a bird having non visible tufts ( internal tufts ) So that being said, if a bird does not visibly have tufts it cannot pass on what it does not have.

Hope that makes sense.

I don't know anything about lacing on birds so can't help you there.

The blue is "mossy" meaning that the lacing is blurry and the colors are blotchy and not uniform. That being sad, it's not too bad for an araucana, but would never pass muster as a show blue. I tell you, blues are hard!!

Sega, I've been wondering about those eggs in the photo of your beautiful chicks. On my computer monitor they appear to be grey and brown. Is that what they look like to you as well and were they that color when they went into the bator, or did they change with the heat?
Also, where are the chicks? It looks like they are right where they hatched out of their eggs, but if I tried to take a photo of my chicks still in the hatching section of my incubator, all you would be able to see would be the middle section of the babies through the shelves of the incubator. I would LOVE to have a hatcher where I could see the babies like they are in your photo!!!

Those tufts really are inspiring, and all that blue chick down!!!!!! I love it so.
The pictures where taken with a CellPhone, so the color is not quite right. The chicks where still in the hatching tray. I had just pulled it out of the incubator. Wish I had the Clear Glass front on my GQF so I could see better inside the incubator. One day I will purchase that but for now I will deal with the small looking glass. Also, I wonder why GQF does not have some type of a light inside the incubator where the hatching tray is at?

The eggs are a Greenish Blue color. On The Araucana Club of America Egg Color Chart, the eggs in the incubator were D5, D6, and C11. One of the Hens I have got to get rid of, she lays an egg that is not Bluegreen inside. It has a white tint to the inside of the shell. All the other Auracana's I have lay a Bluegreen tinted egg on the inside of the shells. I have got to figure out which one she is. I have one hen that lays a B2 colored egg, but she is sitting on some eggs right now.

Would like to have a hen that would lay an A7, A8 or A12 colored eggs.
