Araucana thread anyone?

Thank you, thank you, thank you... coberdor! I finally have tufts. I am just so excited about my babies! I have one yellow chick with good sized double tufts. A blue with one big tuft and a duckwing type with with a tiny tuft. I tried to take photos...

They were not to enthused. I could not get the tufts to show well. Can not seem to figure out the camera too well.

I am so excited. I cannot wait for them to grow. Best hatch I have had yet for Araucanas. Again thank you so much.

Poularde, YAY!!! Post as they grow up ;)

Eggdd, Dominant white will allow the red to show through, often diluted but sometimes pretty red. I've obviously got some dominant whites because when I had my pens mixed, I often got red pyles.
Here is one of those chicks,

Here are some more pics of the parents of the test eggs. .

My BBR roo. Clean faced and rumpless. He currently is in with my EEs. He's the one I was thinking of using with the red pyle

Here is the wild type hen. Spot, from Smoothmule is the rooster in this pen. He produced alot of blue cuckoos, who are now my pullets. I like this hen, I have another, but much more washed out looking. She also came from the Florida eggs.

This hen came from eggs from Hinkjc. She is almost lavender, clean faced, rumpless

Here is the pyle colored hen. She is clean faced, but rumpless. She was hatched from a batch of eggs from a Florida breeder. I don't remember the name.

I'd like to get more of her. She's the only one of this color I have.

Three of my splash cuckoo roos. All rumpless and double tufted. I have one I plan on keeping. The others I need to find homes for. I also have their father, Spot, who is from Smoothmule, who is a splash like these. I just pulled all the roos out of my pullet pen. The were way too enthusiastic and several of my smaller pullets are bare backed.

A closeup of the lavender looking hen from Hinkjc. One of the Cuckoo hens is next to her.

A closeup of my wildtype. She a pretty girl.

This blue hen has one tuft and is rumpless. She is also from Hinkjc. And my little buff hen. I have two of the buffs. One is a pullet, so I'm assuming it came from this hen. Both are clean faced and rumpless.

Nice birds!!

The pyle-esque girl you like is likely carrying the pattern gene or something similar, too. My family loves your blue-based wildtype girl. Very pretty. So, where's Daddy-O ?

Here are some photos of this weeks hatch that started last thursday.

Then there is this chick who came out of the two birds pictured. It appears to be a recessive wheaten with silver. It is the only one that has hatched that color from these two birds. Usually I get Birchen or Mottled birds out of these two.

I've posted pics of my other roos in the pullet pen, but here they are again.

Here is a gold duckwing, cleanfaced roo, in thw pullet pen.

This boy has tufts, but they are very tiny. What color would you say, blue with gold leakage? Not truly a duckwing, but it appeared so when he was younger.

These three roos are carbon copies of their father. They all have larger tufts and are larger in size. I have one cuckoo hen, very washed out, almost white, who is large, I believe she threw these boys, because they are all larger than their father, Spot, who is pictured below. One of these I plan to keep, the one on the left with the flower like tuft, the others I need to fine homes for. Anybody in Ohio need some tufts in their flock? I'd prefer to place them locally rather than ship. All of the young roos I had to remove from the pullet pen. There were too many and my poor pullets were becoming bare backed. I'll give them a break, and then add the one roo here that I want to keep of the splash cuckoos.

Illia, maybe you could tell me, could I use the blue roo, who is tufted but has some tail feathers to cross to my washed out clean faced cuckoo girls to bring back more color and tufts?

Here is Spot, who I got from Smoothmule, he is double tufted, although they are small. He has thrown alot of blue cuckoo offspring.. He is the roo in my established pen.

You are welcome! I've posted more pics of their parents here. Look back in the thread and you can see more pics of some of the other pullets and hens.

It is exciting to finally get tufts

.

Enjoy them. I hope one of the tufted ones is a roo, so you can cross with some of your clean faced hens.
