Araucana thread anyone?

that's what i was dreading
he.gif
we were thinking he was a pullet because he likes to have his head down, and he is really small (our smallest chick) and he has really small legs. but i see what you mean about the comb, thanks for sharing!

That one is kind of hard to tell. I've got 1 male with a huge red comb already that age, yours actually looks like my 2 that I'm pretty sure are males. Sucks, huh?

I had a fecal done on the chick that died. There was no sign of parasites, coccidia or ghardia. I then cut it open and found not much in the intestial tract from the gizzard to the butt. I was surprised at how small the gizzard was to a 6 wk old chick. I don't know my chicken anatomy very well but just before the liver and gizzard was a ballooning in the intestins. The only thing I did different was that I fed the chicks some scratch feed the night before. I had this one in a 10 x 12 stall along with 27 other 4-6 wk chicks and 4 marans about 3 months old. I'm starting to think about separating so there isn't any overcrowding soon.

On top of all this, of all the chicks I got, there was only 3 hens and 9 roos and this was one of the hens. grrr.
