Thanks, I think he is going to be very colorful like his dad.

I don't think I posted this but a few days after coming back from Stacy's house, my husband killed a fox out my bedroom window. We have been here 41 years and I have never seen a fox. So he sees it one morning and can't get a shot before it takes off. Then a couple days later at the same time, 6 am, he sees it again. I hear him come into the bedroom quietly. I ask him what he is doing and he said the fox was back. He is trying to get the creen off to shoot it but I tell him to just shoot thru the screen. He gets it right in the head, first shot. Well yesterday I see another one crossing our property up by the road. Grrr

I lost a chick today. IF that wasn't bad enough, it was a hen...double tufted and rumpless. Not sure why it died so I will go get a fecal done tomorrow.

I wish I could have been more of a help. I honestly did not think she would pass away so quickly. Hopefully you can find out what it is and get it resolved.

can araucanas ( i think they can but im not sure) be clean face and partially tailed?
Yes and yes. Some people prefer to breed clean faced w/ tufted b/c the tufted x tufted has a 25% fatal gene, the chicks die in the egg. In the US tail or partial tail is not optimum and is tried to be bred out, but yes it can and does pop out even in show lines.

thank you so much! i have a lavender araucana chick, is there a way to sex her yet? (she is 4.5 weeks old)

I ended up with 4 out of 7 with tails from the eggs I hatched recently. Post a picture of yours with the comb showing clearly. Mine are about that same age and I can tell pretty sure what sex they are by their combs alone.
