so cute!

Stacy,
You just keep putting out those doubles. So now do I have to think about breeding to clean faced birds? I certainly need to learn about genetics for these birds. Where would anyone advise on starting to read.

As long as one parent is tufted, you'll get 50% tufts and 50% cleanfaced. If both parents are tufted, you'll still get 50% tufts, 25% cleanfaced, and 25% dead in shell. I am personally less picky about hens being tufted, but any boys I keep are absolutely rumpless and tufted. That way, if I get a cleanfaced hen I really like, I don't have to worry about tuft inheritance.

Browsing around the Araucana Club of America website is a good place to do some reading.

I gave the last egg ( the green one) the float test and no movement. So I cracked it open gently and pulled a black, rumpless, cleanfaced chick out. When I was trying to uncurled it, it had a piece of tissue wrapped over its neck ( like a cord wrapped around a babies neck) and even I couldn't pulled the head up without pulling the head out from under this tissue. So thankyou Stacy for the last 2 beautiful blue chicks.

OK, I haven't posted pics here since they changed the format, so I will just try one first. These chicks hatched Sunday from eggs shipped from Ray_n_Debi.

Does anyone know what color the black/brick red chick in the front will be??

These are the rest of the decent pics from this morning.

What color is the blue-ish one with the light face in front of the hen?

Is this wild type one a BBR?

Blue and splash?

This one looks like it has some blue in it.

Will this one turn black?

Any input is welcome. These are my first Araucanas.
