Araucana thread anyone?

Thank you Puddin Fluff for your good wishes. I am hopeful my remaining 2 Araucana hens will go into laying without any problems. I dont really blame the breeder....I do understand being a producer of animals is risky business. I just want to get as much learning as possible from this experience so I can make better decisions in the future. Or make changes if I am doing something incorrectly. I appreciate your input.

In the future if you get araucana chicks and they have similar issues pooping send me a message and I will let you know things you can do to fix it. I have observed over the years that chicks who get stressed, its like their system produces a lot of calcium rocks or crystals that tend to block the hole. You may have to clear it out a time or too but after a couple of days their system straightens out and they are fine. Some chicks are more upright than others. I have purchased chicks from various breeders over the years and a few of them have very upright short backed looking chicks, but none of them had issues.

Oh Cool! We live in Harris County...near Columbus. probably 40 minutes south of Newnan. Thank You, we have worked really hard on our place. It was covered in sweet gum trees(which are awful BTW) and vines with thorns all over them. We got it cleaned up now we need to plant some nice trees and do some landscaping. I would also like to build a permenant coop. the tractor works great......but now I want MORE chickens!

I just hatched out these three Araucana's, they are my first ones and I wondered if you all could help tell me what color they are going to be?

This chick is yellow with a little grey on its back, it also has a small tuft on the left side

This one is clean faced

This last one has a tuft on the left side only

Thank you for any help you can give me!

I have one Araucana bred by a backyard breeder from a hatch of 23 chickens of all kinds of breeds - he had purchased the fertile eggs. He thought it might be a cross bred at the time he gave her (?) to me, but on looking in my chicken 'bible' ... !! I notice the breed does not have much of a tail. This one ( around 14 weeks old now ) has a magnificent upright tail but with no signs of curved roo feathers. HOWEVER, she is making some rather odd noises now - perhaps she just likes the sound of her own new voice, or perhaps she is in fact a he !! The sound is like a type of crowing with laryngitis ? I thought - with her perfect (?) Araucana head etc. that she might be in fact, a pure bred with 'cuckoo' colouring. Buff / beige sprinklings throughout feathers, but basically creamy white. I am a novice at keeping chickens, and would like some thoughts on all this. The photo I am ( hopefully ) posting here, does not show the colourings on her white feathers, and behind her is her best friend - my little silkie. Thanks.

That Picture is sooo cute! Aracauna? I can give you some info about this rare bird i you want! We have a hen bantam silkie chicken, and three silkie chicks. The little picture as my identity in the little box on the left is a picture of my silkie's head. She is sooo fluffy!!!

This chicken is a very rare bird that no other chicken looks like. But it is a favorite. It sounds kinda like the silkie chicken. They are both rare, and both favorites. If they are like the silkie chicken, then they grow not too big. In your picture, yours isn't very big. I like small chickens! Did this info come in handy? if not, then just ask for more!
