Araucana thread anyone?

Not sure at all on the color of the red one. Old enough now that I'm certain he's a cockerel but still very young. He's a neat color but I can't really tell what he will finish out like. He's fully rumpless and clean faced. Nice dark yellow legs. He's a freebie if anyone wants him, cost to ship will be very reasonable since he's still so young.

I'm hatching chicks now. I'll be posting when I have a group of started chicks available that are old enough to ship. Cost to ship will be much less so there will be 4 to 8 sold in a group with at least one double tufted chick (single tufts will count as a clean faced). I won't include any that are tailed unless you tell me that's okay and they will be free whether or not they are tufted. I have only one tufted hen in the mixed color pen so she may throw some tailed, she has a single tuft but she's an awesome looking pullet, nice and large. Colors may include duckwing, blue, black, BBR and splash as well as some that are unexpected, I've been told there are some wheaten splits in that group.

They will be whatever color I have on hand, no choices, I'm hatching from my mixed pen and black pen at this time. They won't be old enough to sex them but it will be cheap enough. They will be $15 per chick this way and I'll ship with a heat pack. They may not be fully feathered out but they won't be week old chicks either. They will be partially feathered and eating and drinking good. I'll pack them with crumbles, shredded apple bits and grow chick for hydration. Shipping box is included in this deal, only actual postal cost to ship will be added, when I weigh the group and figure shipping.

PM if you're interested (I can add 6-12 hatching eggs packaged in with the chicks for $2 per egg) I've found this to increase hatch rate because the live bird boxes are not handled so roughly.

On a wheaten female the colors are all shades of cinnamon. The head and neck is a dark cinnamon, the back is a lighter shade of cinnamon, and the chest is a medium cinnamon.

The correct BBR wheaten color for the araucana is a dark red wheaten as described by the Standard of Perfection.

Ad removed, I went out to get updated photos and I made an error when I picked the photo's taken in the fall, one of the pullets is clean faced. So, the clean faced pullet is fully rumpless, the double tufted pullet has 2 stray tail feathers. Both have some white in the ear lobes, from a couple of splash hens I traded for last summer so I'm going to offer this trio for mush less, locally, as they should not be used for breeding in a exhibition pen. The Cockerel is nice, double tufted and rumpless, a good bit younger than the pullets (who are laying) so he's still growing in his rump hackles.
Sorry about that, just decided to sell them and should have looked them over before I placed the ad.

Over the next few weeks I hope to be updating it more as the nicer weather will allow me to take some decent photos of this years birds.

I have been working on wheatens for a couple of years now. I have finally simplified my breeding program to where I only have duckwings and wheatens. I have pics of some of my boys on my website.
