Araucana thread anyone?

Araucanas can have no tail (rumpless), partial tails, or have a full tail. They can be clean faced or tufted one or both sides. Only on America do they only show tufted, rumpless birds. Most other countries allow clean faces and tails to be shown.

I have a partial tailed rooster. I don't have any pictures of him on my iPad but he is a page or two back - the bright red, gold, and black green one with yellow legs.

It is hard to say what your girl is. Did she come from a breeder or ? The most important thing is are you happy with her? She has an amazing color with spots like an appaloosa horse - so cool! Her eggs are a beautiful. What more could you ask for ?

I have a show quality Yorkie and a rescue Yorkie. When anyone asks I just say that they're both 'love' quality. After all, isn't that the best kind to have?!

I lovee my Araucanas too. Right now I'm switching roosters out. so far I've used my best Silver duckwing roo with my hens. Next I'll use my best tufted BBR roo with them, after that I'm usi.g my largest bodied gold duckwing roo, hes partial tailed. last is a Lavender red bird. I love the colors.

I don't think a purebread araucana will ever have any part of a tail or rump. If it does, it is a mixed breed.
Araucana's can definitely be "purebred" and have full tails, partial tails and a few tail feathers but no tail bump as well as rumpless. Rumpless is the standard.
In the same way, true Araucana's can be clean faced, single tufted and double tufted but the standard is double tufted.
Tails are relatively easy to breed out but some breeders will use them to make more balanced chicks when the back is so short they look cut off. You can breed rumpless to rumpless and never have those short backs but it is possible and tailed Araucana's, if they possess great qualities other than having a tail, can be useful in a breeding pen, just not for show.

Hi, I was just wondering your opinion whether this fella has face tufts. I don't think he does- but he has Lots of feathers next to his ears???

Thanks!!!!!

Here's my Araucana/EE.
Rumpless, no tufts, but she has the beard & muffs of an EE.
I was really surprised by her coloring - I wasn't expecting such a pretty silver duckwing!
Dad's a gold duckwing araucana & mom's a brown EE.
