Araucana thread anyone?

Sorry about your comp N8ivetxn. I remember learning to use my phone. What a nightmare for me! Sure do hope it's much easier for you.

LOL, yeah that's what I get for drinking (coffee) and surfing at the same time

Thanks, JuJubeann... his daddy was the biggest character I have ever seen... screamed like a little girl catching him, but was putty in your hands once you did, lol...

LOL, that is hilarious! All bark and no bite!

@RavynFallen , The birds that Edd calls "Palomino" look like a light and creamy duckwing..... oh man, just lovely.... I have to email him and see if I can get some live birds from that pen..... I saw some similar color birds under Ray-n-Debi's profile page, but at the time I didn't know what they were calling the color variety.

I haven't seen it, so I can't say whether it's a project variety or mixed color... but with a duckwing base, willow shanks would most likely be the logical color...

The only reason I said yellow for Red Pyle is that has a white color base... to err on the side of the odds, willow is the the most accepted shank coloring in the varieties...

I agree with your logic on the shanks.... I just wanted an experienced point of view

I was reading over Edd's website, he says he'll be available for business contacts starting in March... however, his FB page doesn't say that, it just says to contact him by email for information on birds and eggs.... What the heck, I could try, worst he could do is just not reply...
Or, I could email Ray-n-Debi and see if they sell live birds in that color - no more shipped eggs!

...... I don't know, I might forgo the Red Pyles in exchange for the Palomino lovelies

True, worst that could happen is no response or a no... I dunno if Debi ships live, and I haven't run into her on BYC in a while... I wanted to get some more eggs from her but there was issues going on weather an molting wise, I believe... *I think* she had mostly blacks and blues now, but I could be mistaken...

Oh, ok. .. their albums have some nice birds....it would be a shame to lose them as breeders.....

I understand Edd's issue with the "Standard of Extinction," but it sure would be nice if he kept a few birds that weren't so mixed up! I hope he can tell me about the breeding background and how he got the Palomino color....it almost looks a little blue underneath...

Oh, no! I doubt she has stopped with Araucanas, she just hasn't been active on BYC lately... as far as I know, she loves the breed and planned to keep them for quite some time...

I had thought originally that he bred true to colors... I don't keep up on him though... so...

And if he's breeding mixed colors, hard to tell... also hard to tell if the results will breed true or not...

Btw, not judging, just making observations... different breeders have different views and goals...

Blue too? Huh... curious to see pics...

My original bantam cock bird was a real mish mash mix of colors... I'll have to see if I can find clear pics of him... should get pics of his grandson too, he's getting culled this weekend, off to auction...

I'm not sure what to think, either... I look at his pics and it seems like the pens are divided by color variety, but then he's got some really mixed looking birds (my 3 are a hot mess). I'm not sure what to make of it. His FB page says he's been working on the Palomino color for a while, the pic was dated January 2015.

Yes, the breast looks to be a very light grey or blue.... If you get a chance to see the pic, I'd like to know your thoughts on his comb and the shank color....and would you say he's Silver or gold based?
