Araucana thread anyone?

This will be my first year breeding. I am SO excited! I have some black and black mottled from Nancy Utterback, and if I could find a silver duckwing pullet to pair with my avatar cockbird I would get that variety going, too. I plan to do things exactly as you do, @smoothmule. If you have any advice for a newbie I'd love to hear it!

We hatched shipped eggs and all of them turned out Roos. Love the breed, real sweet boys. Not showing or breeding, just pets. We rehomed all but Dali. He’s got a bulbous floppy comb, so don’t think less of him. He’s super sweet and takes good care of his flock. Here’s a pic of our guy:

Hatching goes that way! Odds are that next time you will hatch all pullets
 
I've never really investigated the wheaten gene. What is the difference?
It seems that the Black Breasted Red Wheaten pullet has a lighter more salmon colored breast and her hackles are slightly lighter.
I’ll read up on the section in Kathy Brunson’s book over the weekend.
