Araucana thread anyone?

My pullet Bonita (single tufted) laid her first egg overnight! I opened the pop door this morning and there it was, on the floor of the coop right underneath her! Luckily I had fluffed their straw last night so it was intact. I can't tell if it is more of an ix or vii on the color card.

Congratulations Trish!
To me at least the egg color looks like ix on the color chart.

congrats!

it is hard to understand from the colour card. ix looks like pale bluish while vii looks like blue-greenish. the egg looks blue but darker than ix. at least it is how I see it.

I just picked up 2 new Araucana pullets! Blue birchens! I purchased them from Jason Fishbein, the president of the Araucana Club of America. It appears both are tufted, or at least one of them has a tuft on at least one side. I could have sworn Jason said one was tufted and one was clean faced, but I see tufts on both. These aren't the greatest pictures; I was trying to give them their space as I'm sure they were freaked out from being in a box for 38 hours. The one on the right appears to have a hooked beak, but she is the one with the surprise tuft/s and has good size, which I need in my breeding program.

:woot :love
I love them!

Have you guys noticed that Araucanas make vocalizations that other chicken breeds don’t make?
My 2 pullets make sounds I’ve never heard from any breed ever kept since I started chicken keeping.
My new pullets make odd sounds that I've not heard from other breeds. Hard to describe... just different.
