You could put him in with your laying flock. It might be worth it to wait until he is fully mature before deciding if you will remove him from your breeding program.
What is your setup for breeding pens? Could you maybe post some pictures? I would like ideas and references for when I will be breeding eventually.

Cholo is in with my laying flock, so he definitely can't go there. He does need culled. Even though he is double tufted he has A LOT of gold leakage in his saddle feathers, and he carries his wings unusually high. Nothing I want to breed forward. The lady who was interested in him wanted him for an Olive Egger project.
I'm going to take my existing coop and divide it down the middle to make 2 breeder coop/pens. It is in the middle of the run so I can easily divide the run in two as well. I would also have a 3rd area that is one of those pre-fab coops in a 10'x15' section of the run. (That's where my new pullets are staying). Its definitely nothing fancy, more "makeshift". I can't bring myself to stick 2 or 3 birds in a cage inside a barn like a lot of breeders do.

Most of the time they're locked up, but during the summer and on days in the winter when we don't have a snow cover, I'll let them range the yard. This is only when somebody is home to keep an eye on them, so anybody walking or driving by would have seen all of my chickens. I don't have a fenced yard.

Could you see any unusual footprints in the snow?
 
My bantam Araucana started laying last week. I am surprised how big her eggs are. I thought bantam eggs were teeny tiny. This is her third egg, on the right. The one on the left is Mama's; who was her surrogate mother. Mama is large fowl.
