I went ahead and put in some older eggs that were 10+ days old.

Did you clean the dirty eggs? Bacteria from the dirt could fester in the incubator.

Well crap... I contacted my local NPIP tester to set up an appointment to test and she said the state of Indiana requires you to have at least 30 birds. I have 13.

with chicken math you will soon be there, lol.

No eggs today. They weren't shipped Express. I went back and reread her Facebook post about the sale on eggs and they are shipped Priority. It's the chicks that are shipped Express. My bad. I will definitely have them in the morning though. The good news is she packed them air cell up in foam egg shippers, so I don't have to do the 24-hr settle-thing before putting them in the incubator.

7+ days old eggs hatch pullets. if there is a male embryo they don't hatch.

Me too! I am a nervous wreck. I've never hatched before.
Glad I didn't set any of Bonita's (which are deformed anyway) or Lil Girl's. Well, it turned out I didn't have enough room anyway. I'm email pen-pals with the lady I bought my first Araucana cock (Cholo) from, and she said in her experience Araucanas need to be a year old before their eggs hatch. She has tried to hatch pullet eggs both in an incubator and under a broody and she said they develop, but never hatch.

I got another Araucana egg today! It’s much bluer too!
The one from today is on the right and the one from yesterday is on the left.
