The girl came to get the black hen. As she's walking up to me I notice she doesn't have a box, pet carrier, crate or anything. I ask about it, and she said she was just going to let her ride loose in the minivan. I don't know what my facial expression did (whatever I am thinking usually shows on my face), but her face changed and she said, "you don't think that's a good idea?" I said, " No, she's not tame and most chickens would freak out in that situation anyway." She said, "Oh not mine. They all like to ride in the car with me." Godspeed to you, little black hen!

It looked like she had a blanket or tarp over the back seat... but still!
She had on a pair of strappy sandals and I asked her if she wanted to go into the run because she'd probably get poop on her shoes. She said it was okay because she gets poop on everything! Lol

Hmmm, that's not my current page. I had that one awhile back. I lost the email and password associated with it so I started a new one. I'll wait their requested 24 hour period and try again. If that doesn't work, I'll just start a third account!

I dispose of them on the 10th day. I just don't feel comfortable eating an egg that has been sitting out at room temperature for almost 2 weeks.

don't worry about the eggs that have not been refrigerated. I prefer to keep them out of fridge for at least 2-3 weeks.

our great-grandparents had no fridge and no one died by eating room temperature eggs. btw, they collected eggs for 40 days for easter every year.

On a different note, I've been locked out of facebook. I had to go through a verification thing and they were supposed to send a confirmation code to my phone (via text message), and I'm not getting it even though my phone number is correct. Anyone else had that problem?

not sure but sounds like hackers and not facebook. I never give my phone number. if it is not a problem change your phone number. use e-mail for any verification.

Ditto! I keep mine at room temperature and have eaten 2-3 week old ones with no problems. I do the sink test with older ones.

Thank GOD for security cameras!
I must have been half asleep doing chores this morning. I left the gate open into Ratchet's coop and run this morning. As I do every morning I make 2 cups of coffee and sit in the living room on my laptop, with the cameras on 4 of the 6 coop/runs. I have the monitor right next to the TV. I look up and see EVERYONE from the original flock in her run! This includes Cholo and the evil hatchery layers. I hauled @$$ out there thinking either the mean girls were going to go up in Ratchet's coop (where she is still sitting on eggs) and beat her up, or I would find Cholo and Manolito fighting through the fence (there isn't silt fence blocking the view between those two runs). To my surprise neither happened. Blue Boy and Triton (the triple tufted cock) on the other hand...if they so much as catch a glimpse of each other from 20' away they start bouncing off the fence trying to get to one another.
I've had my adrenaline rush for the day.
