Araucana thread anyone?

don't worry about the eggs that have not been refrigerated. I prefer to keep them out of fridge for at least 2-3 weeks.

our great-grandparents had no fridge and no one died by eating room temperature eggs. btw, they collected eggs for 40 days for easter every year.
I know people do it all the time. It just grosses me out! I'm not much of an egg eater anyway.

@Stiletto do you have the US or UK type Araucana?

I believe she is French. The leg band she came with has "FR" on it, which is why I think she come from France.

They had tufted and non-tufted available, for a difference of €10, so I got the latter as I'm interested in egg colour and experiencing what different breeds are like, as opposed to breeding.

Is she rumpless?

@Brahma Chicken5000 I know you won't be back on until tonight, but I wanted to get these pics posted while I had a chance. You were asking about the mottling on the 2 chicks... I tried to get some pics. I didn't have Mano at this age so I'm not sure if he had this much mottling at 3 weeks old or not.

US araucanas are rumpless, no crest. UK araucanas are crested, with muffs and tailed.

@Trish1974 about that lady... Wow. Just wow. I can’t imagine! The first time I got chickens from other than the store, I brought a dog kennel. She already had them boxed, but still. Same when I got Napoleon. I can’t imagine risking them freaking out and hurting themselves in my car, or freaking me out in the process and I cause a crash!

I'm not sure! I'll let you be the judge of that...

When I got her I thought she was rumpless: Two photos (click to enlarge)

It's very tricky to get photos of her because she comes right up to me when I try to take pictures! I tried to take some for @Brahma Chicken5000 the other day and wasn't very successful and I went down earlier to try again.

This is the best I could do: Six photos (click for larger image)

What do you reckon?
Tailed. See the tail feathers? On a rumpless bird, Theresa no tail feathers at all, the back ends with the rump saddle feathers. If you were to feel, you wont feel a tail bone at all.
