Araucana thread anyone?

I decided to not purchase, and told her to send someone to pick them up. She told me to keep them as a gift. So now I guess I have 4 pullets and one Cockerel.
That's awesome!
Good decision on Ann's part. Not a good idea (biosecurity-wise) to take back birds or pass on birds that have been on somebody's property. Not that I think your birds have cooties RinaRoo, just in general.

You never know, they might, but they're on a totally different part of my property than my other birds. No cross-contamination.

I got home from work today and found my light brahma, buff brahma, Buckeye, GLW and poor Varric dead in the run. My BR Andy my BJG will both probably have to be put down. The BR for sure. And I will have to treat Cassandra. I’m leaving in the morning for the weekend and I have to quickly shore up my defenses tonight. I’m so worried and upset.

And pissed off atmyself for not seeing the holes in my defenses before.

so sorry for your losses

So I'm keeping the paint and gave the GDW pullet to a friend of mine who has wanted a blue egg layer for a long time. Now hubby isn't so upset about the number of birds. The paint is a beautiful little thing. I'm trying to think of a doctor who character name for her and the blue girl.

So of the seven eggs under the CF black hen, four hatched. Guess which 3 didn't?? Blue tufted x blue tufted!! :he The pair I most want chicks from! But I have one CF black, one single tufted mottled, one CF BBR, and one double tufted BBR.

I'm a little worried about the hen's behavior. With past chicks the mother didn't take them off the nest for over a day. I assumed this was so they would all dry. Well, this hen was off the nest this morning with the first chick that hatched, and two of the three still in the nest were wet! I went in there and shoo'd her back on the nest, but I can't stand there guarding her all day. I hope she keeps her butt on there until the others dry and can get around.
