Araucana thread anyone?

When you have chicks with a momma, do you separate them from the momma ever, if you plan to keep them with the layer flock? I have only 2 other pullets in with the momma. Will I need to pull them all out, or will momma be able to protect them? She is lead hen if that helps.

The mom will usually wean the chicks at 6-8 weeks of age.

Came home from work, first baby has hatched from one of the unknown eggs. Unknown meaning I couldn't see through with a candeler light. I guess they were definitely fertile.
The mother that laid the egg is Cochin barred rock, and dad is an EE Ameraucana/marans mix.

Well, if mom is barred... that first chick is male.

I've been stalking Mama from the outside of the coop and I can hear her doing the broody cluck (and no one else is in there), so I think her eggs are hatching. I feel like a nervous parent pacing the delivery room of a maternity ward.
Inside my crappy incubator the BBR egg has pipped. That's not good news for the one blue x blue egg that I know is/was alive, since it's a day older than the BBR.
