Araucana thread anyone?

How adorable! Tufted chicks are just so cute! But the clean faced ones can be just as beautiful.

I didn't even look at my Araucana chicks this morning when I took them from hatcher down to the brooder. I have no idea if any are tufted or not. I usually just check my chicks the first week for health and then the second week I will notice more on them. It is a real treat to get tufted babies and i get excited all over again when i realize I have some and get to watch them grow. However, this year i may not get to keep as many with all the pre-orders I am now trying to fill.

there dad is a light duckwing and the moms are blue and black. I'm thinking that light one is a duckwing and the dark one is black. I've been hatching eggs every week

the older chicks looked like these guys and they are now looking like duckwings and blacks.

Hello here are some pics of my bantam Aruacanas, I have one brown pullet that I got from skyblue egg, and two that I hatched from ebay eggs from another BYC member. I hatched three chicks one has a straight comb so he is out of breeding contention. The other two, I was looking at today and I think they have beards or muff and I read that is a DQ, so does this mean they are also out of breeding pen consideration.

I took some pics of them. They don’t at all look like the tuff’s on some of my standard Araucana chicks?

those have muffs/beards, ameraucana maybe? or they could be EE's.... they definitely are not araucana

eta- if the seller sold them as araucana then they are most likely EE's since an ameraucana breeder knows what they have and wouldn't call them araucana...

I agree, not Araucanas. They do not have beard and muffs in America.
I have not ever had one with a straight comb but I know some breeders that have had those. I stayed as far away as possible from that. Pretty little birds but not true Araucanas.

Ok then I only have true bantam araucana pullet, I will turn the other two out with the layer flock and my extra banty roo’s. they free range all day and love it. Boy I did not have any luck with the hatching banty eggs. Three batches from skyblue with no hatches and the only three that hatched (from Gypsychick) are not true araucanas. I will prob go back to skyblue for some company for my pullet later. Thanks for the info

Try ebay and Tom Deans eggs I have some in the incubator right now and they are due this week. Out of the ten I bought 1 didn't develope, 2 developed and died and 7 look really good. They are large fowl.

The other place to look is eggbid. There are some bantys on their right now.

I bought some from sky blue eggs and didn't get any to hatch either. But I know people who did, so I think it is a shipping issue.

I just hatched some araucana, they all died

. One was tufted, no idea why they all died. All the other chicks I hatched were fine. I am just going to hatch my own and see if I have the same bad luck. Haven't had much luck at all with shipped araucana eggs

I've got four 14 week old bantam Araucana cockerels I hatched from Sky Blue Eggs that you can have if you need them. I'm not sure what variety they are, and most are clean-faced with partial tails, but if you're interested just PM me. I'm in central FL (Bartow). Here's a few pics:
