Oh, wait, that's me you're talking to! Gosh, this new name is going to take some getting used to....... Hmmm, Lanae, I'm looking down at my own, uhm, sturdy feet and debating weather or not to put any energy into being offended by your apparent prejudice against big feet on females. I'll let you know what I decide....
I wanted to ask you about your incubator in the photos before. Home made right? Do you have a fan and if so, what kind is it? We have been using a computer fan, but I think it is drying out our chicks too fast, before they have a change to finish leaving the shells. I'd like to find a gentler one I think.
I got such a thrill out of seeing your photos of all your pretty eggs, lined up and labeled for the bator. Had to remind myself of how horrendous it is trying to shepherd my flock through the winters without the added responsibility of helpless babies around, but the itch to hatch is strong!
Okay first I was going to say "DO IT!!
" - Then I saw you're in Montana, yeesh. . .
I'd say wait, honestly. It gets COLD up there. Now, out where I am or Lanae is, it is quite fine to do winter hatches.
I've got babies from this cockerel hatching today!!!
(yes he IS tufted, he just had them chewed off this year)
