I have a nicely tufted tailless black cockerel who is destined for dinner as he is showing some red bleed through. He is bantam. Anyone want him? I could bring him to the Chehalis show Dec 4.

Your cockrel that appears to be Black may infact be Brown Red, they look Black but are not, you will notice a difference in the Black, it will be a Flat Black as opposed to the a Shiny Black. Most of those Brown Red Bantams that I know of came from Alan Stanfods birds, and they were Bantams in size. I have a small Large Fowl Brown Red Hen that has the Red under the beak in her neck area, she's double tufted and rumpless too, and when you put her next to Blacks in daylight you can see the difference in the Black. it almost has a Brown tone to it, and is flat in color as opposed to shiny, almost like a Black Copper Marans Hens is supposed to be colored.
