Araucana thread anyone?

Hmmm, wouldn't that be great?! Maybe Michael & I will pick up some birds from you and Steve.

How are your standards doing??

Steve confirmed he will bring a trio of large fowl whiltes. He says they are pretty good- which is saying something for Mr. Understatement. I will bring just the one tufted bantam white araucana pullet and a pair of Polish bantams. Will try to do auction updates from my phone. I do have the tufted rumpless off color black cockerel bantam I could bring to the show if anyone can use him in their breeding program. He would be free. He is bilaterally tufted with a nice broad head but considerable red bleed through: a product of one of Steve's black pullets and my white male with red bleed through that I wanted to try breeding to black to get rid of the red. Didn't work. There will be minimum bids set at the show for Steve's whites- don't know how much. He generally sells tufted birds for $200 and clean-faced for $100 and people pay it gladly because his show record is second to none. This trio is likely to go for a bargain price to someone. I can be emailed privately at [email protected]

Exoticduckluvr,
Love all the color! Those are some really nice chicks. Especially the red ones. Are they all from your own birds or did you buy any eggs?

I am wanting some red, not the leaky stuff but real red. Anyone know of anyone besides Ann Charles working with the red color large fowl Araucana's? I haven't seen many for sale anywhere.

Cathy,

Your determined to have two of every color arn't you. I don't blame you. Just remember me when you get tired of your duckwings.

I saw a couple of ginger birds on her website I think. They were really pretty.

I am not interrested in white birds but I would love for whoever buys Steves birds to post pics of them here. He has georgous birds.

I am soooo tempted to put up a good bid on Steve's birds, love em, but I'm not so sure about having white birds around here. I think white looks gorgeous on a fully bilaterally tufted bird, but I'd need clean faced birds too, and, eh. . . . Just not that big of a white fan.

As for red Araucanas - Never seen anyone breed them, though I can with my boy, Marango. He's got the Columbian and gold to start it, just of course not the mahogany.

I saw someone, I believe Nadine, with an almost red cockerel here, but he had a random white feather in his secondaries and blue undercoat. Also, he was more orange than red, but,

Slightly close.

Illia,

Be a dear and post a pic of Marango again. Do you have a new one. Isn't he the one that looks like my boy but more lemony and blue? I just love him.

yes Cathy these are all from my birds. I have my first pip now on batch 3 now. I am going crazy now that I finally have tufts and can breed lol.
I just love them for their cute nest and sweet personalities. Tufts are icing on the cake

Congratulations on your addiction, umm babies. They are really nice. That is great that you got so many tufted chicks.

You are making me wish I hadn't put my incubator away for the winter. Oh who am I kidding, I was regreting it the moment I unpluged it and your not helping my emotional turmoil right now. LOL!

Thankfully I have a Florida room/Sun Room to raise them all over winter. Tried raising babies last winter inside lol what a dusty mess. Hubbie told me I would not be doing that again and I agreed

My hubby finally had to tell me to "step away from the incubator!" It seemed all my family saw of me was my behind cause my face was always pressed to the window of the incubator watching chicks hatch. So much fun.

I definately want to set up where I can hatch all year. My family was tired of having them in the house also.
