Araucana thread anyone?

While I was at it, I took a bunch of pics. Of course, only a handful were not blurred, lol.
I take a ton, hoping they stand still long enough but they rarely do. The indoor pics are nicer and they stand nice but the color isn't quite right since it's not daylight.

Here is Joker, currently all my hens and young and roosters are in the coop together and all getting along great except (for reasons I don't get) Degas and Rudy hate each other. They each get along with all the other roosters but not each other

So, Rudy is loose in the barn and out of the coop until I decide to switch him out with Degas.

Joker - I'm "really" liking this rooster

Snow White (AKA Snowy) - lovely young pullet hatched from eggs from Ann Charles. Smoothfaced/rumpless....Lovely willow legs, I love this pullet. She's already nearly as large as Fawn!

"Snow White" looks to be a Wheaten or Duckwing underneath the white. Pretty girl.

Watch and weep, everyone. This splash cuckoo pullet is next to a hatchery BRAHMA, believe it or not.

Illia,
Oh they are wonderful
smile.png
I love the pale blue one with the Brahma. My pullet, Luvdove is the same color but she is tufted and has a full tail. She isn't laying yet but she's growing into a very pretty hen. I'm working on deciding who I will coop with whom this spring. I thought it would be fun to have them all together till spring and see what sort of potpourri I get. Hopefully, I'll have a couple more pullets laying.
At this time, my only hens laying (and they are not laying but have been) are Slinky, Fawn and Velvet. The weather has been so labile that they freeze one day and warm the next. Lights are on a timer but the only ones laying consistently are a couple Maran hens and we eat those.

Here is my bilaterally tufted/tailed Luvdove now. I'm anxious to see her egg color and what her chicks are like. She was pretty small when I got her and I thought she might even be bantam but she must have just been younger as she's really growing into a lovely pullet and she has the sweetest personality. That may change though, some of them seem to change overnight when they start laying and are all grown up

They are large fowl, and the writing on the egg is splash and duckwing, I think. I'll double check and tell you for sure tomorrow.
They are beautiful eggs! My first 7 are beautiful birds, so I can't wait to see what this batch brings!

Is it possible for a person to EXPLODE out of excitement? Maybe I should get the cleaning supplies out for my husband, to make the clean up easier when I do.

Now, now I feel like trying shipped Araucana eggs is more of a possibility. Watch out world, I've got an incubator and I'm not afraid to use it!

More beautiful Araucana pictures Illia thanks so much, makes me want to gets some eggs real soon, but right now it's a little too cold, plus I'm going to do a test hatch with some local eggs to see how my old hovabator does.

I'm really enjoying seeing the color variations, and I'm very partial to the duckwing coloration.

Congrats on the hatching eggs! Gary is hard to get hold of, at least from my experience. He offered a rooster to me at the Araucana forum, then never got back to me. I tried all last summer to buy chicks from him but he just never got back to me then contacted me one time months later then nuthin. Really confusing but I hear really nice things about his chicks.
