Araucana thread anyone?

Ditto the crappy weather; I actually have a couple of insane hens out there who are broody (because apparently now would be a great time to hatch chicks out in the coops?) and I am so thankful for those two silly girls and their warm behinds which have saved untold numbers of eggs from freezing.

I would need them by next friday the 11th. I have been watching the weather and wasn't connecting it with you all. I understand. I am thankful the weather is temperate her year round. We may get a freeze over night but then the sun comes out or it rains which warms things up.

I appreciate what ever anyone can do, and if you can't I totally understand. This is my first booth for the ACA so I want it to be awesome. I think Cindy said she could send me some bantam eggs which is great.

I need to make sure and let everyone know not only how rare they are, how hard they are to hatch, and how expensive they can be to buy them, that way they feel like paying a dollar for such a unique item is worth it.

Sorry, Lanae, I didn't understand. I thought you wanted eggs for the Monroe show. My breeding pens aren't up yet and I will not be able to have guaranteed purebred eggs this soon. I'd hate to have people hatch eggs with little crests! I still have Polish running with the araucanas and can't trust parentage. By Monroe, they'd be ready to go.

Not a problem. I have crested araucanas also. They do lay georgous eggs but not the right kind of funny looking. Thank You for the pics.

I just wanted to share that my handsome rumpless roo just started crowing today. Or I should say attempting to crow. It's a terrible, terrible, god awful noise!! I feel bad for everyone in the coop now. I hope he figures it out soon because wow!

haha, love it. nothing quite rivals the first few attempts at a crow eh? The best is when the older roo has to show em how its done after wards. I have had in the past the odd hen that tries to crow, sounded just like a beginner roo, and confused me at the time till i saw it cause i knew i only had the one male and aside from something chewing on him during the crow he'd never sound that bad haha.

Congratulations. Your mornings will never be the same. And if you already had roosters adding another crow just makes the morning song longer as they try to out do each other.

Ilia,

Anyway, she's so sweet (with me, very bossy to the other birds) and has grown to be one of my favorite peeps.

Yep, I recall you having a few photos of her before I even had Araucanas.
