Sib,
I hope the hatch goes well but definitely know there will be more that don't make it and be thankful for any that do. Seems to be the nature of this breed and every chicks is so precious! Can't wait to see some pictures and I hope you have a nice number hatch.
I've sold a few now and hope to hear good news from the people who bought from me, especially the lil 9 yr old girl that her mom and aunt had been looking for a long time to find someone that would sell them. I'll have more to sell but still would rather hatch them all here and sell young trios or pairs but until I have a larger incubator, I guess I was fooling myself that I could hatch every egg. I candled some that I bought recently from the Utterbeck lines and there were 14 clear and a couple of early quitters and 15 candled good but I know that there might only be a few of those that hatch and I'll be very thankful. They don't ship as well as other breeds eggs.
Still, hatching eggs are the best way to get some of the best chicks to start a flock, just very risky and expensive at times. When you get your chicks and they're old enough to sex them, if you need some to pair up with what you have, let me know. I'm going to have some for sale this summer too once I know what I have and maybe we can do some swapping. And, I kind of figure if I sell hatching eggs to someone and they hatch all cockerels, I'll sell them some pullets before I'd sell to others but I know that if we all work together to share what we have, we'll all have more and better birds to cross with.
