Araucana thread anyone?

No, there are also Manx Rumpies (extremely rare) and rumplessness itself can pop up as a fluke in nearly any breed. I most recently acquired a rumpless Sussex from someone, purebred too.

What you have there though has no Ameraucana in him, and in fact likely is only 1/4 Easter Egger, seeing by that comb. The rumplessnes is quite likely just a fluke.

I got more pictures of him today. So, if he is an Ameraucana mix then he'd have a bit of Araucana in him somewhere along the lines...or no? She had a Speckled Sussex in there too, but insists that he can't be the rooster X.

No. Ameraucanas began from a different group of chickens than Araucanas. Araucanas started out as a tufted, rumpless bird. Ameraucanas started out as a tailed, bearded/muffed bird (the Quechua) in which Easter Eggers also originate.

If that little guy were half Ameraucana, he'd have muffs/beard and a pea comb. He's clean faced and with a single comb. His legs look yellow and his color reminiscing partridge very well. I'd say he's either 1/4 Easter Egger or not one at all, but indeed a "fluke" without a tail.

One thing you've gotta consider is that most people think their Easter Eggers are Ameraucanas. I'm sure the lady had an Easter Egger or EE x something else and thought he was an Ameraucana. The rooster likely was either clean-faced or had one allele for beard/muffs too. And I bet he was duckwing based, with possibly some Columbian, seeing how this chick is feathering out.

He'll be spoiled rotten here Cathy.

After his 30 day seclusion in my juvenile pen, he'll join my blue, blue/red, splash, and one buff colored hens. My hope is to add more tufts into my flock.

I only have one blue hen that has one tuft. Then when I get some tufted hens, I could cross them with my BBR clean faced roo or my blue/gold roo.

He'll get to be in the new coop I built last summer.

Are you sure he's rumpless, feel for the Parsons nose. He may have a slow feathering gene and if so he won't show his tail for quite some time.

To me he looks Penedesenca, be sure to keep an eye on his comb development and look for the sprigs at the rear of the comb as he's growing, the rest of the comb will look like a straight comb.

well I've spent a couple days working on building a new hovabator bottom, i wanted one that was flat so i could line it for easy clean up. I also wanted the side walls taller because i didnt want to have to worry about chicks falling out (I'll be hatching in egg cartons). I've also made a divided section so i can keep track of specific ones. What do you think?

You're the lucky recipient of that gorgeous rooster! Nice.
Wow, you have some beautiful hens there (and rooster). I can't wait to see what you get out of this new boy and those gorgeous girls. Pretty please will you share chick photos when the time comes?

I'm so glad Spot has such a great place to live. He will be beside himself to not have 5 other roosters to compete for the hens. He's still a young roo and will mature even more this summer and just get even better. I can't wait to see some of his chicks. I should have some of his in the incubator now but since mine are still in a common pen, it might be hard to know for sure. I would be pretty sure any blues or blue wheatens are his.
COngrats!
Cathy
