Syble,
My fingers are still crossed, hoping for some peepers soon. If they're due to hatch Sat, I wouldn't be surprised if they don't start tomorrow night. I've been having a run on chicks hatching about 12 hours before I'm thinking they should and wondering if I counted right on the days. I usually set mine in the evenings.
Ann,
What is your chick count? Colors? Hope they're doing well and you've had a good number hatch.
My 4 recently hatched chicks are doing well, the blue chick (#2) looks like "possible" double tufts but the down is really thick on this chick. One of the chipmunck striped chicks (#1) that has typical striping for duckwing looks clean faced, the black (#3) probably clean faced but there is a bit of fuzz I can't tell about yet. The last chick to hatch (#4) looks like one large tuft on one side and the striping is "different" than I've seen before....anyone able to tell anything from the striping patterns?
Here is chick #4 check out the striping, it's got an unusual shape. The only one I've hatched before that had such scanty striping was the red chick.
I still have trouble seeing them till they start growing feathers unless they're huge
The blue chick, I'm pretty sure this one is tufted but there is so much down. I usually get out the magnifier when they're old enough I can see the shafts.
The "typical" chipmunk, anyway what I'm used to seeing on my own.
Black chick,
