Way to go! You hatched shipped Araucana eggs. You are amazing! This should be on your life's resume from here on out "Hi, I'm Sib and I can get shipped Araucana eggs to hatch."

I can't wait for pictures of these little guys and little girls...

LOLHA too funny! The hatching stats would sit nicely between my carnivorous plant credentials and the heavy equipment ones haha.

I had to go in and grab turkeys out so i snapped 2 quick photos (and misted the eggs!)

They are rumpless but i don't think they are tufted. They look akin to smoothmules chick minus the eye mark. they are from ginger red eggs.
Thanks

lol I don't know if 2 of 18 is a good hatch haha. I have a third now a cute little blue!!! havent investigated it at all though. there are 2 more piped and 1 to go. I had looked at my notes, and when i candled prior to lockdown i thought 2 were no good. oh well, fingers crossed that the last 3 hatch safe and sound! they are due tomorrow so not worried yet hehe. The 3 that are out are nice and alert and look robust(when they're not sleeping hehe). I'm excited to see what else hatches out. there is one silver duckwing egg, 1 blue egg and 1 black/splash egg i believe? if not splash its another blue.... i think the 2 best ones quit now that i think of it (and they were black/splash)... we'll see what comes. I'll keep you all updated, and hopefully better pictures

Lanae, I was just on your site to get your contact info for a woman trying to get started in Araucanas. Your web site is looking great. I don't think you had your for sale page up the last time I was on there. I'll be browsing your birds for sale page often.

and a 4th is out, came out of the silver duckwing egg. I have a blue egg piped and rocking about (hard to see through the pip hole but it looks blue aswell yay! no tuffs to be seen anywher, atleast non that i can see! but thats ok. also looking at my notes, that last egg that has yet to pip has to be a black/splash egg... so that theoretically should be a blue too!!! fingers crossed, 3 blues would be awesome!

Megan, Thanks. I havn't updated the website in a while. I am waiting untill my babies get old enough to ship if someone wanted to buy them. I have about 30 chicks running around with 14 due on Sunday. None have pipped yet but I kept them temp around 97 so they probably wont start untill tomorrow.

Syble, Congrats on the babies. Sounds like you might get 5 or 6 to hatch out of the 18 I sent you. I have been hardly breathing waiting to hear your results. One lady bought 3 dozen from me and she only hatched 5, so she is really upset, which I totally understand. All but 7 of the 3 dozen showed development- which shows they were fertile, however all but the five that hatched for her quit before hatch. It is so frustrating. I know when I was actively buying hatching eggs I spent hundreds of dollars and only ever had 6 hatch total out of the eggs I bought. Way more expensive it turned out than just buying the chickens.

I wanted people who bought eggs from me to at least be able to hatch a couple of eggs a dozen. I know it sounds like a small goal, but with the araucanas, that is like reaching for the sky, it seems like.

I hope you get a couple with tufts. That would make me so happy. All my roos are tufted except the ginger red pen roo, but his girls are tufted so hopefully you will get at least one.

Megan, I told you I didn't have any tufted blues and I was wrong. With so many babies running around in one pen screaming for food everytime I go in there it is hard to see individual colors. Unfortunately the double tufted blue one was the dead one I found this morning. Talk about frustration. All the non tufted jealous chicks just looked at me like "what?".

I just collected the prettiest egg today out of my blue pen. It is a c12 on the egg color chart and it is so vibrant. I hope it hatches. My black hen that lays the pretty eggs Syble likes has been moved to my Birchen pen with my Avatar roo. I am hoping to get some nice tufts on her chicks. I had her in with my dom. white splash roo but had not gotten tufts from her yet, so I thought a move was in order. Hope it works

Ann,

I hear you had a decent hatch. I am so happy for you. I was thinking of you yesterday when I was in my baby pen. I have a gorgous double tufted, tailed silver duckwing pullet with georgous willow legs. She is so pretty. I also have a double tufted gold duckwing rumpless roo chick with yellow legs. They will compliment each other nicely so I am going to set them up as a pair and see what I get from them. I have been charmed over and over by your pics of the duckwings on your website. I need more.

Syble, Sorry to disappoint you on the black splash egg. The roo is actually a dominant white so the chick will most likely be black. I just list him as splash cause he is brown and white splotch colored, and splash is shorter to right on the eggs than dominant white. If you look at the roo on my website under the splash page you will see what I am talking about.

I am starting to like the blacks, I think because that is the only color I don't have a pen of yet. I do have a couple of chicks that look good enough to make up a black pen if they live that long. Pretty sad that you have to make qualifying statements like that with the araucanas. ARGH!!!!
