i cant comment on much, but your red looks like mine, cept the bits of brown yours has are grey/blue on mine. lanae says that hes likely a roo, i get that impression too! I'll try and take a photo of my 3 tomorrow.
Thanks
Sib
smoothmule i think we have cousins haha. This is the roo i got from lanaes eggs. he was a yellow chipmunk as a chick, but now i see all kinds of blue (or is it just grey?) in him:

Shot of under his wing, look at all the blue fluff that grew in aswell as the blue wing feathers
I love the pic of the scrawny little chicken wing.
Syble,
I have alot of that color running around and the boys look just like the girls even at 3 months. I keep waiting for saddle feathers and combs to grow in before I dare say what they are.
Anyone who can answer or vote,
When I'm ready to place Lucy in one of my breeding pens, which pen should I put her with? I would like to put her with her dad just to increase the chance for more like her, I love her color but she's also a good sized, well balanced pullet. Obviously, one of my roosters is her dad but I don't know who. I would lean toward Rudy (BBR) or Guy I think because they're my only roosters with a lot of red. Guy could be since he's blue breasted red. I have those 2 in the same breeding pen with my "wild type/BBR/duckwing" looking hens. I have my black hens and Luvdove (a creamy pale blue with darker blue spots) in with Degas and Joker. I don't think Degas could be her dad cause no blue. Joker might be?? he's sort of duckwing with that breast color that isn't really blue but closer to looking blue than any other color possibilities. The only other possible is Casper. He's recessive white and I bought him, not hatched here, so I have no idea of his color that the white is covering up. So, I'm in a quandary trying to decide which pen for her. She was hatched in January and a few days shy of 4 months old so I don't want to wait too long to settle her into a breeding pen. She's as spoiled as they come already, I don't want her to be some sort of prima dona that won't accept a rooster,
She's plenty large enough so she's ready. She's larger than some of my hens now so I'll leave the voting open this week and put her in a pen this weekend when I have time to keep an eye on my lil princess.........I would never spoil her
I wanted to show off one of my double tufted rumpless little girls!! I'm so proud of her and it took me so long to get some good babies out of the few True Araucana's I have. Her momma was a Lavender pullet and her daddy was a double tufted black. Check out the color I have no idea what she is going to be!!
Tell me what you all think:
BTW, I have a couple of clean faced rumpless cockrels if anyone is interested. They were born on 04/01/2011.
